This is NOT a children’s book. It is an old adult book, published in 1998 and reprinted in 2006.
I am enjoying the book, although parts of it seemed contrived. A passenger plane is crippled by a test missile from the navy. A plane load of passengers become zombies when their brains are deprived of oxygen. A part time pilot must land the plane. Air traffic control give false co-ordinates and instructions with the hope that the plane will crash and everyone will die -resulting in less insurance payout.
Anyway, with crazy zombie-like passengers trying to get into the cockpit, the plane running out of fuel, poor and unreliable communication from the control tower, the navy realising their mistake and wanting the plane shot down … it is an exciting ride.
If you want character development, realistic dialogue and plot, heart and depth, avoid this book, but if you want a fun, written for late 20th century movie, fast paced, light read… this is for you.
