The antagonist in my short story, to be printed this year in The School Magazine.

Biography
FAMILY: David is an old man with a grey beard and more wrinkles than scrunched up paper. He is married to Dizzy and they have four children: Benno, Mogsy, Donny, and Jo-bee. Mogs writes YA books and the boys all play musical instruments. They all make a living from doing what they love.
PETS: His family includes a dog called Frankie, which replaced Honey which replaced Rosie Hotdog Caddy, which is now part of a lemon tree which was chopped down. There are many ex-budgies. There are ex-silkworms that spent most of their lives as eggs. There are also ex-crazy crabs. Three chickens and a rooster are gone. The guinea pig count is now zero. The rabbit, which dug up the house, is an ex-rabbit! The ghosts of his pets wander the house. If you listen carefully at night you may hear them.
HOBBIES: Reading, surfing, drumming, playing guitar, and singing. He doesn’t do any of these things well, but he enjoys himself. His favourite places are the ocean, his hammock and egg-chair – the latter two for reading, writing and napping.
CAR: He has an old bomb car, which some staff call a pizza delivery car. There are no electric windows and parts of it are falling off. David uses silicone to hold it together.
FAVOURITE FOOD: David’s three favourite foods are milk, lemon meringue pie, and mashed potato, although not at the same time.
HATES: David’s worst feeling is when he does a somersault and his stomach tries to catch up. He does somersaults in the ocean, onto his lounge couch, and in the staff room.
LUCKY NUMBER: 24.
THE FUTURE: David is a primary school teacher and he loves the job. But he is slowing down; he groans with aches and pains when he stands up, and he often forgets his glasses are on the end of his nose.
