221. I make a bet with my friend, where the loser has to be the winner’s slave for a day… and I win.
222. I colour in a picture using crayons, and my paper is on top of a deskmat or some other object, so an imprint comes through into my colouring.
223. The ball goes over the fence and the teacher trusts me to go and get it.
224. I am on the oval at lunchtime and I hear a little Aboriginal girl singing in her own language. It is so beautiful.
225. One of the other kids comes back from an extended holiday and gets to say news. And beside them on the floor is a bag, and inside that bag are presents for the class. The gifts will be strange and small, and from far off places. They will probably bear tiny Chinese lettering! Even though I am supposed to be listening to the news, all I can think of is, ‘What’s in the bag?’
