I enjoyed this book as much for the illustrations as the story. It is not a long read – I think about 132 pages and a lot of them are full page and half page illustrations. The text is large with plenty of white space.
I am not sure of the age it was written for – probably 12 or 13 year olds; much of the humour and language is for this age group. Some of the themes are redundancies, traditionalists, love, ageist behaviours. Some of the words are disparagingly, diligent, summoned, selection process.
Poor old Santa is redundant so he applies for other jobs. Unfortunately he is not cut out for the jobs on offer – well not until the end of the book. There is also a love story here, assuming there is no Mrs Claus. Ha!
